Ricardo Arias: “Playing the first match at Mestalla is a big boost - we have to take advantage of it”
The Valencia CF legend and Club ambassador reacts to the LALIGA EA SPORTS 2025/26 fixture list on L’Informatiu on VCF Media Radio.
Denis Cheryshev featured for 29 minutes in Valencia CF's game against Sporting CP, the first appearance for the Russian in three months.
A hyperextension to his knee, suffered on April 21st in a match with Real Betis, had kept him out of action and caused him to miss the Copa del Rey final, amongst other important games. It also left him with some unfinished business, and during the summer break he would put pen to paper on a permanent deal to keep him at VCF.
Cheryshev played on the left of the midfield, and participated in a move which ended in a definitive goal for Kevin Gameiro. It came on 65 minutes, when Francis Coquelin robbed the ball away, gave it to Cheryshev, and he set up Rodrigo for a cross in to the Frenchman.
Marcelino would replace him with Fran Villalba with quarter of an hour remaining after an impressive cameo appearance, in which Cheryshev showed that his comeback is progressing positively.
"I'm really happy. I was really looking forward to playing again," he told VCF Media after the game.
"My teammates, the coach and the coaching staff have made it very easy for me, taking care of me a lot in training in recent days. It went very well, and I also want to thank the medical team; I've spent a lot of time with them over the past few months, and I'm very happy to be back."
